First off, the three-star rating does not refer to the quality of the picture as much as the fun factor of the picture. "Kull" is a very fun, light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek sword and fantasy romp that feels like a combination of "Hercules: The Legendary Adventures" and "The Barbarians" (1987). Not what I really wanted to see, but at least it's better than "Conan The Destroyer" (1984). Kevin Sorbo looks great as Kull, but he almost seems a little too sophisticated to play a barbarian (I can't believe I actually wrote that). Saucy Tia Carrere goes completely over the top with her portrayal of the nasty villainess Akivasha and looks like she enjoyed every minute of it. Kull's love interest (Karina Lombard) is another welcomed sexy babe. The effects are laughable and the dialog is cleverly campy (there are several hilarious "Star Wars" (1977) references thrown in), and overall it's a great bit of silly escapist fun.
