This film could have been so much better, but as it is it's pretty fun and entertaining. Fiery haired Red Sonja (Brigitte Nielson) becomes a magically gifted master swordswoman after her family is murdered and she is brutally raped. Naturally she's out for revenge, and along the way she picks up sword swinging Arnold Schwarzenegger and bratty Ernie Reyes Jr. The film looks great, the sword fighting is well executed, the art direction is superb, and the action pieces are fun and exciting. Unfortunately, the acting is a bit flat all around, and the inclusion of dopey humor and silly characters spoils the tone of the film. But at least it's better than "Conan The Destroyer" (1984).
