This continuation of the original film is nearly as good as its predecessor (forget all about part 2), as yet another group of teenagers is terrorized by the maniacal Freddy Krueger whose tortured soul still hasn't been put to rest. The tormented kids are all kept in a psychiatric ward and are being treated by top notch dream specialists. But Freddy has his way and proceeds to take out the kids one by one in a barrage of visually fantastic dream scenarios. We finally learn the origin of Freddy Krueger and surprise, surprise, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) from the original film comes back to help the kids take control of their dreams and defeat Krueger. Sadly, she falls for one of Freddy's tricks and is slain by him in the end. Great looking effects and dream sequences, and an awesomely cheesy stop-motion fight between John Saxon and Freddy Krueger's skeleton. Interestingly enough, as a youngster I had the same nightmare that one of the kids in the movie has, about getting his veins ripped out of his body through his wrists. Icky.
