Mad Max (1979)

Rating: **
Director: George Miller
Cast: Mel Gibson

The world is going to hell. Fuel resources are running thin and street gangs are taking over. Max (Mel Gibson) is one of a few dedicated highway cops desperately trying to maintain law and order and he butts heads with some particularly nasty bandits. They end up killing his wife and kid, which causes him to go out of control and waste all of the bad guys in a blaze of glory. Intense and violent, but it's slow and doesn't have the same look and flair that its sequel, "The Road Warrior" (1981), does.
