What a pleasant surprise! This is a visually mind-blowing film, full of light-hearted fun and campy sci-fi adventure (it reminded me of "The Black Hole" more than anything). Breath-taking spaceship choreography. Thoroughly enjoyable, with the minor exception of the obligatory cute alien critter that the crew adopts. A strong cast gives strong performances, playing up to the cheesy melodrama of the genre and the series that the film pays homage to. The ending of the film drags a bit as the drama played out, but it is still quite satisfying.
