Another good looking, amazingly stupid martial arts period adventure from Wong Jing. Someone needs to rein him in. A stellar and sexy cast, completely wasted by a horrible and degrading script. Some decent effects, but the fighting sequences are crippled by excessive quick cuts. Michelle Yeoh doesn't get to show off much, but she looks pretty good. An adorable Cheung Man really caught my eye as the cute and sexy bitchy Japanese Spider Ninja, but she doesn't get to show off much either. A shame. Maggie Cheung is always a welcome sight, and she plays a cute and bitchy princess running away from home. All seven of the girls team up to fight the nasty Japanese master villain played by Simon Yam. There's also the annoying Dicky Cheung (who played Goku in "Future Cops") and he's a major source of the idiocy in the film (do I need to mention that he has a talking penis?). If this film had concentrated on the girls fighting and dropped all of the incredibly unfunny humor (if they had let Ching Siu Tung or Yuen Woo Ping direct it for instance) it could have been a really good film.
