Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles (2014)

This DVD contains two episodes: "The Phantom Clone" and "Menace Of The Sith." Emperor Palpatine has come up with a way to clone Sith soldiers, but the prototype clone wants nothing to do with the affairs of state. All he wants is to be left alone so that he can focus on being a master builder. Anakin Skywalker becomes a substitute teacher for a group of young Jedi padawans, and together they're able to track down the renegade clone and shut down the Emperor's crackpot schemes.

Like the other entries in the "Lego Star Wars" series, the characters are cute and the animation is charming. Unfortunately, the writing is offensively juvenile and irreverently nonsensical, which makes these episodes painful to watch. The only joke that got even half a smile out of me was a reference to a Wookiee Life Day celebration. When you have to start mining the "Star Wars Holiday Special" for material and inspiration, you know you're in trouble. Even if you're a fan of the Lego Star Wars series, these episodes are difficult to stomach and you're better off avoiding them.
