A testosterone pumping lightweight version of "An Officer And A Gentleman" (1982) featuring Tom Cruise as a student who's training to become a Top Gun fighter pilot. He falls for one of his instructors (Kelly McGillis) and loses his partner in a freak accident, but nobody really cares because the real reason you're watching is to see high tech military aircraft in action. (Amy used to argue that the only reason to watch the film over and over was to see Tom Cruise and his colleagues playing beach volleyball in slow motion) All of the plane footage is exciting and top-notch, and sexy Kelly McGillis is singularly responsible for causing every girl in high school to rush out and buy a brown leather bomber jacket. (even Heather had one. *sigh*)
