Thunderball (1965)

Rating: ****
Director: Terence Young
Production Design: Ken Adam
Cast: Sean Connery, Adolfo Celi, Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi

Arguably the best of the Sean Connery era Bond films, "Thunderball" features amazing stunts and action sequences, and goes far beyond what the three previous films accomplished. SPECTRE is up to its old dirty tricks again, and steals a NATO plane armed with two nuclear bombs. Agent 007 is assigned to recover the bombs and a girl named Domino (impossibly sexy Claudine Auger) is the key to the case. Groundbreaking techniques in underwater cinematography offer an amazing underwater climax full of weapons, gadgets, and battling frogmen. Terrific stuff.
