Disappointing American debut for the extraordinary Chow Yun-Fat. A completely content free, style over substance music video film that jerks from one gun fight to the next with awkward moments of "drama" and story-telling in between. I'd be pretty embarrassed to have directed this movie. On the plus side, Chow is very cool - almost too cool. His character is never allowed to break into those intense melodramatic Hong Kong performances that made him famous. Mira Sorvino is GREAT, even if her makeup isn't. She looks great with a gun, and carries herself with confidence and conviction, but again, her character isn't allowed to do much either. Veteran Hong Kong actor Kenneth Tsang makes a wonderful villain and adds a touch of class to the film. Overall, a mind-numbing and ultimately unsatisfying film with just enough eye candy to keep you awake.
