Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)

Rating: ****
Director: Tim Burton
Music: Danny Elfman
Cast: Paul Reubens, Elizabeth Daily, Morgan Fairchild, James Brolin

A brilliant masterpiece from the comic genius of Paul Reubens and the cinematic flair of Tim Burton. The stage is set when Pee-wee's most prized possession, his bike, is stolen and he sets out on a cross-country journey to find it. Along the way he meets all sorts of friends including an escaped convict, a biker gang, a waitress with a jealous boyfriend, a singing bum, and the ghost of Large Marge. He finally gets his bike back, and Warner Brothers decides to make a big budget action movie about his adventures starring James Brolin and Morgan Fairchild. Fast paced, frenzied, and chaotic, the laughs just keep coming. Great stuff. (this is also the only film on record that caused me to laugh myself out of my seat at the theater)
