Maximum Overdrive (1986)

Rating: *
Director: Stephen King
Music: AC-DC
Cast: Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle

Stephen King tries his hand at directing and delivers an abomination. Only the cool soundtrack by AC-DC is worth mentioning in this film adaption of King's own short story "Trucks." (now, why anyone would want to make a movie of "Trucks" in the first place is beyond me...) Due to some freak electrical storm, the machines of the world are revolting against their cruel human masters. Our clichéd group of mismatched unlikely heroes gets holed up at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere and has to fight to survive against the evil trucks who want to be fueled, and have no qualms about killing people. Awful stuff, with weak performances and an ultra-lame script.
