John Woo finally gets to spread his Hollywood wings with this film. It's full of beautifully choreographed breathtaking action sequences, and has plenty of thematic symbolism and little Woo-isms all throughout. The story is interesting, but not all that engaging, so it kind of drags between set pieces. Hard-ass cop John Travolta and psycho criminal Nicholas Cage "exchange faces" and much tension and insanity ensues as they continue to hunt each other down. Both Travolta and Cage give stellar multi-layered performances even though I don't like either of them that much. Overall, it's a big budget Hong Kong movie with a contrived Hollywood happy ending. Definitely Woo's best domestic effort so far.
