The Crow (1993)

Rating: ***
Director: Alex Proyas
Music: Graeme Revell
Cast: Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott

Tragically, Brandon Lee's finest film was also his last. A rather unfaithful adaptation of James O'Barr's comic book, but still a pretty good movie. After he and his girlfriend are brutally murdered, Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) comes back from the grave as a dark avenger to right the wrongs done to him (i.e. kill everyone associated with his murder). He finally gets his revenge with the help of a police officer who was investigating his case (Ernie Hudson), and he sinks back into the grave to be with his departed sweetheart. Dark, violent, and gothic, the film looks great and Brandon Lee's rendition of the Crow is intense, strong, and full of angst and pain.
