A classic in bad taste. Money-grubbing Mel Brooks and Harvey Korman want to destroy a small midwestern town, so they arrange for a black sheriff (Cleavon Little) to be transferred to the city in the hopes that the town will fall apart. He receives a less than ecstatic welcome, but soon starts to gain the citizen's respect and support by cleaning up the bad guys. He teams up with a drunkard gun fighter (Gene Wilder) for the final assault and unfortunately, that's where the film falls apart. The ending is so ludicrous, incongruous, and over-the-top, that you're not sure if you're even watching the same film anymore. Otherwise, it's a crude and hilarious Western romp.
