Attack Of The Giant Leeches (1959)

Cast: Ken Clark, Yvette Vickers

Another awful Roger Corman horror flick, but at least it's treated seriously and is marginally watchable. People start disappearing in the local swamp, and eyewitnesses claim that monsters are responsible. Hunky game warden Steve Benton (Ken Clark) sets out to investigate, and the local doctor decides to throw dynamite into the lake to dislodge the missing bodies. It's theorized that radiation from nearby Cape Canaveral has caused gigantism in the local leeches, and they've begun feeding on humans by sucking them dry.

For what it is, it's surprisingly well written and the characters are realistic and reasonable. The dialog is decent and the acting is adequate, but the leeches are horribly embarrassing looking. Blonde bombshell Yvette Vickers is on hand as the requisite bad girl, and her wicked charms quickly lead to her demise.
