Cast: William Hurt
An intense and somewhat disturbing film about a bunch of scientists investigating the human mind through the use of unconventional drugs. William Hurt is the main guinea pig, and he subjects himself to all sorts of nasty and dangerous chemicals in search of the human soul or the nature of mankind. Eventually, he ends up travelling back to the dawn of man and physically tranforms into a savage Neanderthal (among other things). Pretty trippy stuff, and the hallucination imagery is intriguing and powerful. Good creepy stuff.
