Cast: Polly Shang Kwan, Carter Wong
Boring. An incredibly dull kung fu drama that places too much importance on itself. A traitorous emperor (Carter Wong) is conspiring with the Manchus and sets up a good general as his fall guy. The general is unfairly tried and executed, and his deputy and his daughter (Polly Shang Kwan) go after the evil emperor for revenge. The action scenes are sparse, but fairly well executed and marred only by the over-use of cheap and tacky editing techniques (dropped frames, pans, and zooms). It's always a treat to see Ms. Kwan swinging a sword around and she has a nice tough attitude (and thankfully, her makeup isn't overdone like some of her other productions). The film also has one of the lamest endings I've ever seen, with a freeze frame on Ms. Kwan throwing her sword while tripping and falling. Huh?
