Jubei-Chan The Ninja Girl - Secret Of The Lovely Eye-patch (Japan 1999)

Another retelling of the Yagyu Jubei tale, this series is about a young schoolgirl named Jiyu Nanohana who inherits the power and legacy of the legendary Yagyu Jubei through a magical heart shaped eye-patch. Naturally, she wants nothing to do with swordsmanship, but each episode forces her to become Jubei as rival swordsmen come to challenge her. Also, every boy in school is in love with Jiyu and her perky breasts, which sets up the primary comedic element of the series. The animation and character design is good and the music is great, but the goofiness and overabundant breast jokes quickly wear thin. Jiyu really kicks ass as Jubei, and her ninja outfit is both cute and chic. A mixed bag of comedy and action, and not surprisingly the episodes become repetitive really quick.
